Review of Homespell Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheet Set 500 Thread Count Solid Sateen White Queen

Hmmmm. I had written a review when I bought these sheets last year but it was taken down so I'll try again. I have a great set of Scandia Down sheets but bought these because I needed a set for the guest room and didn't want to spend too much. Egyptian cotton is the finest cotton on the market and has a softer feel than Pima. Of course, the softness also depends on how the product is finished and how tight the weave is. Usually, the higher the thread count, the softer the feel. Thus, I got excited when I found these Egyptian cotton sheets with a 500 thread count. For the price, they seemed like a great bargain.

After they arrived, I opened the package and noticed that the fabric was much rougher than your usual Egyptian cotton sheets. I washed them immediately, hoping they'd soften up. They didn't, but, after several washings, they finally started to break in. They're OK for the guest room but I certainly wouldn't buy them for my own bed :)

When it comes to buying sheets, the more you spend, the more you get. In this case, I should have known better because the low price is usually an indicater of lower quality. For a truly luxurious experience, I recommmend buying Italian made sheets. They have a long history of making linens and are masters in this domain.
