These are soft and comfy right out of the package. There is no stiff "breaking in" period. They feel great, are thick and strong, and feel warm and snuggly. I was afraid the lace insert might be a weak point - but the stitching is firm and careful and the lace is sturdy enought to hold up. It isn't flimsy at all.One downside to these sheets; they are 100% cotton, so they are a little wrinkled when you take them out of the dryer. Unless you are a neatness fanataic, this is not a big deal. I guess you could iron them with a little spray starch if you wanted a crisp look. But I could care less how they LOOK - when I am going to sleep, it is texture that is important. And these sheets feel WONDERFUL! They are soft and smooth, and very high quality. The bottom sheets are deep enough to fit my mattress, mattress topper, and electric bed warmer and still have some room to spare. I bought 2 sets of these, and I may go buy MORE. The colors are rich and deep, and were a little darker than my monitor showed. They did not seem to bleed onto other laundry, either.
UPDATE: I have had these for 3 months now, and they are still awesome. No unravelling of the lace inset, stitching still tight, and they just keep getting softer and more comfy. They do wrinkle a little more now, but I could care less - they feel great and help me sleep better. The colors are still deep, and have never bled off onto other laundry, even when a white item got into the same load. I hope they can get more in to sell!
