We purchased this to make sure our pets had plenty of food readily available while we were away on vacation. Our house sitter enjoyed not having to worry about keeping up with feedings throughout the day. All she had to do was check the level and relax. The downside of the feeder is you can't control how much your pet eats and it's not so great with larger food. It tended to clog up with our dog food but be great for the cat food. Our dog had to paw at the food to get it to drop out for her.
