Out of curiosity, I weighed a new Peacock Alley Sutton Towel against a Canning Vale towel I bought ten years ago at Macy's.Even though mine was probably washed over a hundred times, it still weighs more than the new one.In case you suspect my old towels weigh more because they might be larger, they're not. They're actually a bit smaller than the new ones! The only thing bigger about my old towels is the luxuriously thick thread loops, even ten years later! What a shame these are no longer sold in the United States.Ugh.
I gave up my search for luxury towels and went to Costco.Their inexpensive Grandeur towels weigh about 20% more than the outrageously priced Peacock Alley Sutton, and I won't even mention how inexpensive they were. The Grandeur towels aren't quite as pretty looking as the Sutton, but from their appearance and feel, I'll bet they last twice as long.I'll save the Sutton for guests, but will never admit how expensive they were.
Don't be a sucker like me.You deserve more for your money.Avoid Peacock Alley Sutton towels.
P.S.There's one last thing I almost forgot to mention.Peacock Alley claims these towels are 660 gram weight.Yea, right...Pffft!
Update Feb. 23, 2010:Changed rating from two stars to one.
The towels are starting to fall apart.Even though only used and washed a few times at most.Less than two months use for $34 luxury towels.I've bought junk towels at Wal-Mart which lasted longer than this!Today I requested a refund, and will update my comments accordingly.
