We put two of these over our kitchen island and are very happy with them. The down rod comes in two 12" and two 6" sections so you have flexibility in the length.The shade is slightly off white and has painted lines reminiscent of fabric or lace. IMO it is much prettier than plain frosted glass shades. There is a little play in the shade and it takes a little fooling to get it level.
The finish on the metal is slightly darker but goes well with our "rubbed bronze" cabinet hardware. There is a chain link at the top of the down rod that hangs from the included plate so it can hang from any angle ceiling, or there is a coupling you can use when hanging from a flat ceiling and do not want the chain at the top.
