The smell of this is very strong sure. but the gel does not last long, it expires in 24 hours, so every 24 hours you would have to dip with spoon then pour where ever. or you can leave it in the container itself. one part of the product description says, "Slowly releases Ona into the air and neutralizes odor on contact." It does the opposite of neutralizing odors. what it does instead, it tangles/mixes up with the odor, so you smell both the ona and the odor.
